I got this in an email, and had to share: enjoy:

A palindrome reads the same backwards as forward. This video reads the exact opposite backwards as forward. Not only does it read the opposite, the meaning is the exact opposite.

This is only a 1 minute, 44 second video and it is brilliant. Make sure you read as well as listen…forward and backward.

This is a video that was submitted in a contest by a 20-year old. The contest was titled “u @ 50” by AARP. This video won second place. When they showed it, everyone in the room was awe-struck and broke into spontaneous applause. So
simple and yet so brilliant. Take a minute and watch it.

By now, it’s already old news that Miep Gies, one of the Dutch women who helped hide Anne Frank and her family in Amsterdam from 1942 to 1944, has died at the age of 100.

As one of the millions of girls who read The Diary of Anne Frank, and fell in love with the young, hopeful girl and her ordinary and extraordinary thoughts, I have to acknowledge that if it wasn’t for Ms. Gies, the world would never have known that the remarkable Anne even existed.

Read about Miep Gies here and here.

The New Yorker also has a video of Ms. Gies speaking about giving Anne’s diary to Anne’s father when he returned after the war.

I think most young bibliophiles would agree with me in saying that seeing the library in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast was a major influence in their life (or at least their daydreams). And when I stumbled on this compendium of the worlds most beautiful libraries  by the “Curious Expeditions” blog I could not help but be entranced. It is truly astounding and breathtaking. (NB: I can tell you from personal experience that the picture of Vassar Library in Poughkeepsie, New York does not do it justice. I felt like I was in Hogwarts when I visited.) Enjoy!

A post put together by Mental_Floss this week in honor of Veteran’s Day has been making the internet rounds for several days. This one is my favorite, but several of them are worth watching. I didn’t know dogs could wag their tails so fast!

This is a really beautiful short video. Its just a collection of regular people and regular tiny moments, pieced together almost seamlessly – its only around 4 minutes long, and it flows so smoothly it’s over too fast. Don’t blink!
